Westfjords of Iceland

Exploratory diving from a sailboat in a remote and exposed northern landscape.

This was true exploratory diving in a remote and exposed part of Iceland, near an old whaling station where bones, industrial gear and abandoned fishing equipment remained scattered around.

What stayed with me most was watching guillemots dive into the water and dart two or three metres below the surface in search of fish.

The combination made the experience unforgettable—and showed how naturally polar exploration and underwater work can become part of the same journey.
